INLink celebrates official commencement of Inland Rail project
On Thursday 13 December 2018, INLink Joint Venture (between BMD Constructions and Fulton Hogan) was delighted to be part of the turning of the sod with Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack MP to mark the start of the first section of Inland Rail in Parkes.
In October 2018, INLink JV was awarded the $310 million contract to build the first leg of the Inland Rail, between Parkes and Narromine. The project will construct 5.3 kilometres of new rail line and upgrade approximately 97 kilometres of track.
Project Director Gerard O’Connor said being part of building the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia is something the team is looking forward to.
“At INLink JV, we believe it is important to work closely with local communities along the alignment, and we have already made a start by engaging with local sports teams and educational institutions."
“We are also shopping local and have already spent over $120,000 across local businesses in Parkes, including Sullivan’s Mining and Hardware, Totally Workwear, Hays Hardware, Andrews Auto Electric, Signs You See and Regional Business Supplies."
“The project will also provide close to 100 job opportunities for local residents."
“Today’s event signals a major milestone in constructing the first section of the Inland Rail,” Mr O’Connor said.
