BMD secures South East Water Integrated Planning and Delivery capital works program as part of milestone 10-year contract
The record $1.5 billion investment in major capital projects will see the planning and delivery of major infrastructure upgrades across Melbourne’s south-east over a 10-year contract as part of South East Water’s new integrated capital works planning and delivery model.
The ABK Joint Venture stands tall as one of the chosen partners to lead the innovative delivery model for South East Water, along with a second panel of contractors set to deliver essential infrastructure as part of the $1.5 billion investment.
The Dingley Recycled Water Scheme kicks off the partnership, and upon completion of the 42 kilometre pipeline will unlock 1.8 gigalitres per annum of recycled water to 46 public and private sites across the Bayside, Kingston and Greater Dandenong Local Government Areas.
Speaking to the new partnership with South East Water, BMD Constructions Operations Manager Water - Southern Region, Hussein Ismail, said it is a milestone moment for BMD.
“BMD is thrilled to partner with South East Water as part of the Integrated Planning and Delivery (IPD) capital works program."
“We’ve been growing our capability in the water and wastewater sector nationally as part of our strategic expansion plan and this 10-year partnership is a testament to our experience as a trusted leader to deliver in this space,” Mr Ismail said.
Within the IPD model, South East Water and ABK will join forces to establish the Integrated Planning Team responsible for a seamless preparation and execution of projects. In addition to the Dingley Recycled Water Scheme, ABK has also received the $4.7 million Water Renewals Project – Package One contract.
“This collaborative model provides a unique opportunity to deliver innovative, optimised work as we embark on a partnership with South East Water, Abergeldie and KBR. Together, we will embrace our collective diversity of experience and capability to provide value driven outcomes for end users,” Mr Ismail said.
Construction of the Dingley Recycled Water Scheme and Water Renewals Project – Package One is officially underway.
