BMD strengthens renewable energy capacity in Victoria’s south-west
BMD proudly delivered the Balance of Plant scope for the Hawkesdale Wind Farm in Victoria’s southwest, supporting the generation of 97 megawatts of clean energy from 23 turbines.
Working together with client Global Power Generation Australia (GPGA) and electrical works contractor Consolidated Power Projects, BMD managed the Balance of Plant scope.
Drawing on prior experience delivering wind farms in regional environments, BMD recognised the importance of establishing positive relationships with project stakeholders and worked closely with local councils, road authorities and service providers. The project team also liaised regularly with local landowners to mitigate access concerns, implementing a gate access management system to ensure livestock segregation and protection.
BMD General Manager VIC/SA/TAS Ivan Fratric said supporting local is engrained in BMD’s way of operating.
“In collaboration with our client GPGA, BMD delivered a number of community support initiatives including raising more than $30,000 for the Western District Health Service to fund a new biopsy machine," Mr Fratric said.
“The project achieved over 60% local materials and supplies demonstrating the priority our project teams place on engaging with local stakeholders in regional settings."
The delivery of the Hawkesdale Wind Farm project builds on BMD’s capability to deliver projects that support the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
