BMD Constructions awarded the Darwin Ship Lift Facility contract
Located in the East Arm precinct, the Darwin Ship Lift Facility will be constructed by the Clough-BMD Joint Venture (CBJV) to meet the needs of the maritime sector, and the current and long-term needs of the Department of Defence and the Australian Border Force.
The scope of works includes construction, testing, commissioning, certification and handover of the facility and will include:
The ship lift will have the capacity to lift vessels such as the new fleet of offshore patrol vessels procured by the Australian Defence Force.
Combining CBJV’s local knowledge with national and global expertise, project is set to commence in the first quarter of 2024, paving the way for a new era for the maritime industry in Darwin.
At the contract signing in Darwin today BMD Group Chief Executive Officer Scott Power, said he was looking forward to working together with Clough and the Territory Government on the milestone project and world-class facility.

The project is expected to deliver long-term benefits in the region’s economic growth through the creation of hundreds of local jobs within the maritime support sector.
