BMD and Bielby join forces once again to secure Rockhampton Ring Road project
The initial phase of the Rockhampton Ring Road includes $280 million of upgrades across location-based packages in the north and south of the project footprint.
The BMD Bielby Joint Venture (BBJV) has been engaged to deliver the northern package, which includes constructing the ring road section between the Bruce Highway (Yaamba Road) and Monier Road embankment, and works on McLaughlin Street, Monier Road access and the Bruce Highway/Rockhampton-Yeppoon Road intersection.
Speaking to the collaboration, BMD Constructions’ General Manager Northern Region, Gerard Keynes, said the BBJV win is a testament to the companies’ past success in joint venture opportunities.
“BMD and Bielby have a long and shared history of successful collaboration in Queensland and proven experience with projects including, the Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade and the Bruce Highway Upgrade Cooroy to Curra Section 2A and D1."
“BMD is proud of our 44-year history and connections in Queensland, and we are looking forward to delivering such a milestone project in Rockhampton for TMR."
“By leading with a ‘one team’ approach to achieve, the BBJV is excited to showcase our efforts and high work standards once again, and successfully deliver a sustainable transport network solution for the region,” Mr Keynes said.
Bielby Holding’s Managing Director, Adam Edwards, said the BBJV represents Queensland’s preeminent locally-owned civil engineering and structures contractors and as such, are looking forward to taking a ‘Queenslander first’ approach.
“Collectively, BBJV has a successful history of over 150 major transport infrastructure projects completed for TMR and are well equipped with the key learnings and innovations required to benefit the Rockhampton Ring Road project."
“Additionally, we are dedicated to supporting the local community by committing to securing 80% direct local labour employment and 65% local spend, which will provide opportunities to the suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers in the region."
“We look forward to delivering another successful project for TMR alongside BMD in North Queensland,” Mr Edwards said.
Construction of the Rockhampton Ring Road is on track to start in late 2023.
