Outcomes
As with all BMD projects, safety excellence remained a priority with over 100,000 man hours worked lost time injury free and no environmental issues occurring during works.
BMD successfully secured the work without going to tender, illustrating the success of a relationship based model of contracting. After delivering stages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 11 on time and under budget, the project team were awarded a further nine stages as well as an intersection and waterway. These works were awarded as rollover stages, demonstrating the strong relationships BMD has built with both the client and consultant.
At the end of its fourth year in construction, the project continued to exceed client expectations on both timings and cost savings, having delivered 90% of the estate. The high quality and standard were commented on by stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties. Minimal defects noted in completed stages has led to a good relationship between the site team and council, aiding in the client’s efforts for timely approvals and titles.
