Carmichael Rail Network nearing completion
BMD’s civil works component of the Carmichael Rail Network project is set to be complete in around three months with 100% of the rail bridgeworks and drainage finalised and 70 kilometres of rail embankment due to be handed over before the end of the month.
More than 3,000,000m3 of earthworks have been undertaken, 120 kilometres of haul road constructed, and 56 kilometres of pipework laid.
The project team have successfully overcome the project site’s remoteness and large geographical footprint to deliver an exceptional amount of work within a short timeframe and recently achieved 1 million hours lost time injury free, demonstrating the successful implementation of the project’s safety initiatives.
BMD is proud to continue to deliver the project which has employed approximately 600 people and builds on our long history of providing opportunities for people and communities in North Queensland for more than 25 years.
