About the project

As part of the Tonkin Gap Alliance, BMD in alliance with Main Roads Western Australia, Public Transport Authority, Georgiou Group, WA Limestone, BG&E and GHD - delivered the $400 million Tonkin Gap Project and Associated Works contract.

Contracted to remove a well-known bottleneck on Tonkin Highway, where it reduces from three lanes to two lanes in Bayswater and Redcliffe, the project helped deliver significantly reduced travel times and improved safety for road users, while simultaneously improving access and connectivity for road users, pedestrians and cyclists in the area.

The additional scope of works was provided to TGA to assist in track slab works at the northern and southern dive, platform footings and FRP wall works at Noranda and Morley stations, construction of the Morley multi-storey car park and intersection upgrade at Broun Avenue and Embleton Avenue as well as the installation of a large storm trap at the Noranda Station car park. In addition to this, a footbridge over Tonkin Highway in Malaga was also added to the Project’s scope of works.
