The Centenary Bridge Upgrade in December 2024

About the Project

The BMD Constructions and Georgiou Group JV are delivering a second crossing of the Brisbane River at Jindalee, to double the Centenary Motorway’s capacity.

The project includes constructing a new three-lane northbound bridge over the Brisbane River, rehabilitation of the existing bridge to three lanes southbound and providing opportunities for improved active transport connections.

This extra capacity will mean greater efficiency and reduced travel-time between Brisbane’s CBD and the western suburbs for Centenary Motorway users.

This marks the third joint-venture between BMD and Georgiou after the Tonkin Gap Alliance Project and Mitchell Freeway Extension Project in Western Australia.

The project’s first sod was turned in April 2023, marking the commencement of initial works including underground service investigation, establishment of site compounds, impact surveys and construction of temporary works and facilities to enable bridge works.
