Top End team lays foundation for future growth
Led by Managing Director Jason Jones, who brings over 30 years of commercial construction experience, JKNT has a strong track record of working with BMD, including on the successful delivery of the Coolalinga Shopping Centre and subdivision project in Darwin.
Initially focusing on addressing critical housing needs in remote areas, BMD’s investment in JKNT aims to enhance local infrastructure, support community development, and provide tailored construction solutions. The partnership will also explore expansion into the Defence sector, enabling both companies to collaborate on self-performed building works.
Demonstrating its commitment to excellence, JKNT recently won the Housing Industry Association’s Corporate Social Responsibility (HIA-CSR) Northern Territory Housing and Kitchen and Bathroom Award for its project at Essington School in Nightcliff, Darwin. The project, which involved building a new classroom and ablution facility, was recognised for its high standards, despite challenges posed by time constraints and weather.
“This prestigious award not only recognises our commitment to construction excellence but also highlights the quality of our work at Essington School,” said Jason Jones, JKNT’s Managing Director.
“We’re also excited about our strategic partnership with BMD. This collaboration, built on shared values and a strong family culture, positions us for future growth and success. Together, we are ready to achieve greater milestones in the industry.”
David Moody, National General Manager of BMD Urban, said the partnership with JKNT strategically positions both businesses for growth, with a focus on positively impacting communities in the Top End.
“BMD’s investment and collaboration with JKNT provides significant opportunities, leveraging our almost 30 years of expertise in the Territory alongside JKNT’s strong commercial construction background. Together, we are committed to delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients and partners,” Mr. Moody said.
“We share a commitment to culturally responsive solutions, creating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment opportunities, and supporting the personal and professional development of Indigenous youth in the Northern Territory.”
As Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction, and urban development business, BMD is dedicated to reconciliation through continued engagement with and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, creating sustainable opportunities for education, employment, and growth.
