BMD supports future Top End leaders through sponsorship of Kenbi Junior Rangers Cultural Camp
The Northern Territory’s Kenbi Rangers Group recently held their annual cultural camp, as part of their ongoing commitment to engaging with the community they live and work in.
A diverse group of young people attended the camp from around the Darwin, Palmerston, Belyuen and Wagait Beach regions learn about the work undertaken by the Kenbi Rangers on Country.
The camp included a trip to Bare Sand Island onboard Sea Darwin where they met with researchers and had the opportunity to hold baby turtles and look for turtle eggs on the beach. On the boat ride home, they were also lucky enough to come up close and personal with a pod of dolphins, as well as a submarine that was berthed in Darwin Harbour.
The camp also involved workshops in conjunction with Parks and Wildlife, NT Fisheries, INSPIREDNT, Charles Darwin University, the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation Rangers, and the Lee Family. The interactive workshops equipped participants with vital skills and knowledge that they will need in the future, should they choose a career pathway as a Ranger.
BMD proudly sponsored the camp through providing in-kind support in the form of sun protection for the participants.
BMD is proud to support initiatives such as the Kenbi Junior Rangers Cultural Camp that achieve long lasting benefits for the wider community.
