Our approach

Through our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we are committed to reconciliation in Australia and acknowledge the important role we, as Australia’s largest privately owned civil contractor, can play in achieving better social outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

With extensive experience working in regional and remote areas and within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, our policies, plans, initiatives, and training programs reflect our commitment to equal opportunity and recognise the immense contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our workforce.

Our commitment to creating meaningful career pathways includes connecting First Nations peoples to projects and establishing partnerships with school-based organisations such as UNIQ You and the Clontarf Foundation.

We actively partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses and suppliers, promoting supplier diversity and directly contributing to the growth and sustainability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enterprises.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan journey

Our commitment extends beyond symbolic gestures, aiming instead for meaningful action that fosters genuine understanding, healing, and empowerment.

In our Reconciliation Action Plan stages below, you can see the work BMD has been doing to reflect and innovate to create better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
