BMD has been recognised as a Social Spender - Buyer for Good in the Social Traders FY24 Impact Report, spending more than $3.2 million over year with certified social enterprises.

Our purpose is to power futures and create legacies, with social procurement deeply entrenched in the way we conduct business with our supply chain.

Our history spans supporting social enterprises because we’re committed to addressing social issues and creating fairer, more equitable, and more sustainable communities.

In FY24, BMD’s social spend highlights included:

  • $3 million spent with employment-focused social enterprises, which supported 23,600 hours of employment for people facing barriers to work, equal to 14 full-time jobs
  • $165,000 spent with social enterprises providing goods/services to meet community needs, helping divert five tonnes of waste from landfill
  • $116,000 spent with social enterprises donating funds to charitable purposes, leading to $4,600 in funds donated.

BMD’s largest social enterprise spend in FY24 was with Veterans in Construction, which creates opportunities for veterans building a career in the construction industry.
